Directions

• From the North: From the Central Artery/ I-93 Southbound, take Exit 20-A (South Station) onto Purchase Street. Continue along Purchase Street, which becomes Surface Artery, to Kneeland Street. Turn right onto Kneeland Street. Go straight for several blocks, then turn left on Tremont Street. The Tufts Medical Center garage is on your left just past the Wang Center. Please note that periodic night and early morning "Big Dig" closures of other portions of Route 93 may cause delays from additional traffic at the Exit 20-A ramp. 
  
  In addition, I-93 South Exit 20A to South Station will undergo periodic night and evening closures in 2007. Drivers will be detoured to Exit 23, Purchase Street.

  To reach Tufts Medical Center via Exit 23 off of I-93 South, travel along Purchase Street, which becomes Surface Artery, to Kneeland Street. Turn right onto Kneeland Street. Go straight for several blocks. Turn left on Tremont Street. The Tufts Medical Center parking garage will be on your left, just past the Wang Center.

• From the South:  From the South: From I-93 Northbound, take Exit 20. (Exit 20 is a two-lane ramp that services destinations to I-90 East, I-90 West, and the South Station area.) Once on the Exit 20 ramp, follow the signs to "South Station" by staying straight (labeled 90 West/Worcester and South Station) and going past the left-hand exit to 90 East. Approximately 1/4 mile past the 90 East ramp, the two lanes of the ramp will split again, with the left lane servicing "South Station" and "Chinatown" (this is the lane for use by Tufts Medical Center patients), while the right lane is labeled "90 West Worcester." Take the South Station/Chinatown route to the left. Once on the path to South Station, take a left at the second signal light (at Kneeland Street) toward Chinatown.
  
  Go straight on Kneeland Street for several blocks and turn left on Tremont Street. The Tufts Medical Center garage is on your left just past the Wang Center.
  
  Please note that during 2007, periodic night and early morning highway closures on other portions of Exit 20  may cause delays due to substantial additional traffic on the "South Station" and "Chinatown" portion of the Exit 20 ramp.

• Night-time and Weekend Ramp Closure of Exit 20 from I-93 Northbound

I-93 North Exit 20 to Logan Airport, I-90 (MassPike) and South Station will be closed and detoured at night and on weekends periodically during 2007.  

During these closures, restrictions will be lifted from the HOV lane exit, which takes you to the same points (I-90 east to Logan Airport, I-90 west and South Station/Kneeland Street). All drivers may use the HOV Exit, which is accessible from the far left lane just north of Exit 20 from I-93 Northbound.

A second alternate route is from Exit 18. Restrictions will be lifted and all drivers may use the by-pass road to I-90 East and Logan Airport. Drivers destined for I-90 West and South Station/Kneeland Street can also use Exit 18 by simply following Frontage Road.

The full closure of Exit 20 is necessary to build the permanent barrier wall on the left side of the ramp and to correct the dip in the road in the area where the temporary ramp used to sit.

One other full weekend closure will be necessary to complete this work. Public notice will be given.

• From the West: Take the "South Station" exit (24-A) from the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90). Turn left on Kneeland Street and left again on Tremont Street. The Tufts Medical Center garage is on your left. 
  
  Please note that during 2007 there will be periodic night and early morning highway closures on I-90 requiring all traffic heading to Routes 93 North and 93 South to access these roads via Exit 24-A (Kneeland Street/South Station), causing additional traffic and potential delays.

Please also note that during 2007 there will be periodic evening and night closures of I-90 (MassPike) East between Exit 22 (Prudential Center/Copley Square) and South Boston. During these closures all traffic will be directed off the Turnpike at Copley Square onto Stuart Street. Drivers coming to the Medical Cetner should continue on Stuart Street to Tremont Street, and turn right onto Tremont. The Tufts Medical Center garage is on your left.

Finally, please also note that during 2007 there will be periodic night and early morning highway closures on I-90 requiring all traffic heading to Routes 93 North and 93 South, as well as South Station, to exit at Exit 25 in South Boston.

During these closures, the following directions apply:

• From the West during I-90 "Big Dig" night/early morning closures  
  
  The ramp at I-90 East Exit 24 to I-93 North and South, and South Station will be closed nights periodically. Detoured drivers should use Exit 25 to South Boston. Drivers should keep right where the ramp splits and follow the signs toward South Station via the South Boston Bypass Road and the Northbound Frontage Road. Continue on Frontage Road to the traffic light at Kneeland Street. Turn right on Kneeland Street, continue straight for several blocks and turn left on Tremont Street. The Tufts Medical Center garage is on your left just past the Wang Center.
